Holiday DIY: Decorative Ornaments

Deck the hall with DIY ornaments... fa la la la la...

Excuse the cheesy intro, but my excitement levels are running high this Christmas season! When I bought my home last year, I knew I wanted to build a collection of timeless Christmas pieces that I could use for many years to come. So, this year I bought my first Christmas tree and I am so in love with it. It is the most perfect pre-lit gem and I could not wait to decorate it!

My home combines accents of silver and gold and I wanted to incorporate the same color scheme into my tree with accents of red for the holiday. After decorating my tree with all the ornaments, there was one additional element I knew I needed to include.

As I shopped for my ornaments, I saw so many beautiful glittered pinecones. Every time I spot them I would throw them in my shopping cart only to put them back because of how overpriced they were. So, I thought I would bring you this simple and inexpensive DIY to spice up your holiday tree.

Supplies:

Bag of pinecones (option 1, option 2, option 3)
White Glitter
Fishing line
Spray Adhesive
Scissors

Step 1: Spray Your Pinecones

Use a light mist for minimal glitter or use a heavy coat for a more snow-like effect

I recommend spraying the pinecones outside and using gloves because this part can get sticky

Step 2: Add Your Sparkle

Start by pouring the glitter directly on the pinecones over a plate
With the excess glitter left on the plate to roll the pinecone all over the glitter for that true snow-like effect on the edges

Step 3: Hook'em

Personally, I used fishing line to create the hanging hooks but feel free to get creative here by using ribbon or anything else you see fit

I created circle loops and used extra gorilla glue to reinforce on the tops of my pinecones

Step 4: Spice Up Your Tree

Add your festive creations to your tree and you are all done

I hope you all enjoyed! I had so much fun making theses and if you recreate this little DIY be sure to tag me on Instagram and use the #HOLIDAYJULES !!

Happy Holidays!

XOXO,

Jules

Current Favorites: Fall 2018

As I break out all my chunky sweaters and boots for this fall season, I thought I would share some of my current favorites! Nothing gets me more excited than dressing for this season. I have accumulated some favorites that I have been loving too much not to share.

Fashion Favorites:

XLE The Label ~ XLE The Label is new to the fashion world and I have to say, it is my new obsession. For those of you who aren't familiar with XLE, it was created by YouTuber Lauren Elizabeth. I have been following Lauren since she first launched her channel (that was back in 2015 - I was a sophomore in high school!!). I had been counting down the days to the release and it certainly did not disappoint. Everything was not only priced affordably but amazing quality! Can't wait to see was comes of her new collections.

Cheetah Booties ~ I have been a fan of the cheetah trend since I was in high school and this year I knew I wanted to step up my cheetah game with a pair of cheetah booties. I like to think of cheetah as a neutral because they pair so effortlessly with so many colors. My booties are unfortunately sold out but I've linked a similar pair!

Beauty Favorites:

Ginamarie Products - Herbal E Oil ~ The moment the weather starts to shift from warm to cold, I immediately notice a difference in my skin. Shifting from oily to dry, this facial oil has been my cure-all for the last year in a half. If you haven't tried facial oils, this one is a must for any skin type. This oil soaks into your skin and leaves it feeling so hydrated without feeling greasy throughout the day and not to mention it continues to clear my skin.

Glossier Priming Moisturizer ~ No makeup routine is complete without a primer. To get the most out of my everyday makeup, I prefer primers that are lightweight and very hydrating to create a smooth base for my foundation and this product doesn't fall short of that.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray ~ Mario Badescu has been one of my favorite skincare lines for a few years and once I discovered their facial sprays, I knew I would fall in love. Personally, my favorite is the rose scent. It's perfect for prepping your skin before and after your makeup and a great pick me up throughout the day.

Benefit PunchPop! in Pink-Berry ~ I have cumulated quite the collection of glosses but this seems to be the only one I have been reaching for the past 3 months. Not only does it look great over a lipsticks but it's also opaque enough to wear on its own, making it perfect for day to day.

Tarte Highlight in Stunner ~ Cool tones have always been my go-to's and this product is an all-time favorite. I have been loving this beautiful champagne color as my all over lid color. As part of my everyday makeup routine, it is the best way to brighten my eyes and makes them look more awake (even after nights of working late).

Spotify Favorites:

The Morning Toast ~ For the longest time I looked for every reason to hate podcast, that is until I discovered The Morning Toast! I honestly can't say enough amazing things about Jackie's and Claudia's podcast. If you haven't listened to a show, you need to ASAP! There are serious so hilarious and they keep me up to date on all my pop culture news!

Hope you all enjoyed!

XOXO,

Jules

Fall Staples: Unique Wood Watches

The fall must-have you need in your wardrobe is missing and a chance to win $100 towards your next wood watch!

As summer quickly comes to an end, we start to welcome one of my favorite times of the year, Fall! I love everything from fall fashion, the beautiful weather, and of course, college football. Although it has already been about two years since my last official “back-to-school” season, I still find myself looking for new pieces to kick off this time of year.

If you rewind three years (around the same time I first started By Jules Isabel) I can distinctly remember the first time I stumbled across the uniqueness and simplistic design of Jord wood watches.

I have always loved wood accents in my home and I could not help falling in love with the idea of incorporating wood accents to my accessories with these wooden watches. Whether you are heading back to school or are a part of the working world, this is the perfect accessory to add to your collection.

The watch I chose was from the Cassia series in Zebra & Ivory. I was immediately drawn to the contrast between the thin medium colored wood band and the bright ivory face.

In case you have not fallen in love already, these watches make the perfect gift for the special people in your life. Each watch can be engraved with a personalized message, not to mention it comes in a gorgeous cedar box.
